Period of Contact and trade with other countries in Asia enabled traders to exchange wares in the port city of Cebu possibly as early as 9th century A.D. based on the rare pieces found in the Philippines Chinese coins, of Jars and Ceramics.  These were transported to the islands by shipping vessels capable of long journeys.
