Neo stone age circa 5,000
B.C. was widely distributed distributed in the areas of Palawan,
Calatagan, Sta. Ana, Manila, Bacong, Negros, Bohol, Butuan, Surigao,
Davao -- all over the archipelago. These neolithic cultural
artifacts are all contemporaneous. The Cebu excavation has
revealed in recent years a rich collection that are comparatively
at par with the Southeast Asian Neolithic cultural materials. The
SWU Museum presents this in a showcase identifying its area of origin
and significance.
The use of neolithic tools
for food gathering and learning the art of making tools enabled
the early Filipinos to acquire surplus food, thus the appearance
of specialists or semi-specialists who started the art of making
potteries.
