Cebu is rich in schools and trends of artistic tradition. It has continued to produce artistic talents in conservative and modern painting tradition. Art is very much alive in Cebu as countless artists and art groups continue to flourish in an atmosphere of freedom, encouragement and a strong support from patrons and collectors.

With the commitment of making art strongly vibrant in Cebu and its neighboring places, group of active and committed Cebuano artists have organized themselves and decided to form Cebu Artists Incorporated or CAI.

CAI was organized last November 26, 1993 with the objective of promoting and developing Filipino art and culture which generates creativity and productivity and thereby leads to Filipino social virtue for ingenuity and self reliance; to uplift the cultural community by providing assistance to aspiring artists and open opportunities to the development of local talents; to promote the Filipino value through educational programs and setting up the aesthetic standards; and help expose the individual artist to the art world by establishing linkages with the international communities.

If Manila has dominated the art and cultural scenes today, it is because artists all over the nation take up residents in Manila to become known nationally. But it has not made Cebu ceased to exist as a cultural center.

Today, the Cebu Artists Incorporated welds oneness with those who provide them with the opportunity to grow, explore and delve into the nuances of the essence of their art. The artists among them are in alphabetical order: Paulina Constancia, W.R. Cuevas, Adeste Deguilmo, Benji Goyha, Zonia Hidalgo, Jun Impas, Alan, Lee, Fe Madrid, Edgar Mojares, Manuel Panares, Tonette Panares, Celso Pepito, Dong Secuya, Pepe Villadolid and Sonia Yrastorza.
